Profile of CASE Volunteers:
A Volunteering Family
Excerpt from The CASE Connection Newsletter - Volume 1, Issue 1
Monday evenings in the CASE arena have become brighter since mother and daughter, Lori and Jade, have joined the volunteer team.
The duo share a love of horses and were looking to connect with each other through an
activity they both enjoyed: CASE seemed like a perfect fit. “I happened to speak to Dennis Quilliams’ daughter about work, and I learned of CASE,” Lori recalls. “I had a light bulb moment that this was exactly what we were looking for.”
At the age of 11, Jade is currently the youngest CASE volunteer. Her enthusiasm for and comfort with horses is clear, as she is always ready to groom, tack, untack, clean the arena, help with games, and sidewalk during the lessons.
In April, Jade celebrated her 11th birthday by volunteering. “When Mom asked if I wanted to go to CASE or celebrate my birthday, I said ‘We’re going to CASE!” Jade remembers. “The horses were really good to me that night—I didn’t have to scoop poop once!”
Lori’s strong horse background has been very beneficial in the arena. She has been a key leader and side-walker during the lessons, and is a calm presence for riders.
Outside of CASE, Lori is the founder and owner of Moms-on-the-Go, a business dedicated to mom and family-owned businesses. At her May, 2008 Trade Show, Lori highlighted CASE by informing the public, encouraging contributions, and donating a portion of each admission fee to CASE.
Lori and Jade are a very valuable part of the CASE team. They are enthusiastic, kind, and dedicated; their interactions with the community and with each other have been an inspiration.
Thank you, Lori and Jade, for everything you do. We will see you in the fall!
